Beijing East-Village

East Village, an artists quarter on the edge of Beijing, reached international fame in the 1990s. Musicians, artists and critics, who looked for free space, lived here, in oder to work experimentally. It happened innovative works, whereby the performances excited in particular international attention. For the first time Ma Liuming showed one performance in East Village becuase of the Visiting from the artists Gilbert & George. From now on some artists served also performance-art. and it developed themselves apart from einzelarbeiten some spectacular group performances, in which Yingmei Duan participated codesigning.
